Condition 1: Subject to any prohibitions or restrictions contained in any other condition(s), the designated centre shall be operated at all times in accordance with the Statement of Purpose within the footprint of the designated centre on the floor plan received on 08/07/2024. The registered provider shall only provide for the specific care and support needs, and services, within the facilities as set out the Statement of Purpose, as agreed with the Chief Inspector at the time of registration. Any changes to the specific care and support needs and services provided must be agreed in advance with the Chief Inspector. Condition 2: Only persons aged 18 years or older shall be accommodated at the designated centre at any time. Condition 3: The maximum number of persons that may be accommodated at the designated centre is: 38.

Fermoy Community Hospital is a well-managed nursing home with kind and respectful staff where residents generally feel safe and content. The home offers a variety of activities, good food choices, and access to healthcare services. However, some issues remain, such as limited storage space for residents' belongings, cramped rooms for those with high support needs, and some staff training being out of date. Ongoing renovations are taking place but do not interfere with residents' living areas.

A full and varied activities programme is available seven days a week, including live music and one-to-one sessions.
Good access to healthcare services including GP visits, physiotherapy, dietetics, and speech therapy.
Complaints are well managed with evidence of learning and communication with complainants.
The centre promotes a restraint-free environment with multidisciplinary assessments for restrictive measures.

What needed to improve

Limited storage space for residents' personal belongings, especially in shared rooms, with wardrobes sometimes used inappropriately for incontinence wear.
Two-bedded rooms have limited floor space making it difficult to maneuver high support chairs for residents with high dependency needs.
Some staff training in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and safeguarding is out of date and needs updating.
